QRR: Tam tam cafe, Hoi An

13 Feb

This was our hangover cure cafe of choice!
I had the most delicious Croque Madame! Two layers of toasted bread with cheese ham an mustardy bechemal sauce topped with a fried egg! It’s was sooooooo good! I washed it down with a mango cooler! Not as great as a lassi (but I’m slightly addicted to those!) but still refreshing made with mango, soda and lime!

The girls also reported that the omelette and the burgers were very good!

Definitely worth a visit If you fancy a western fix!

QHR sunshine hotel hoi an

12 Feb

We stayed in the sunshine hotel for two nights in total! We had a deluxe double room for £80 including laundry (9kgs worth!) and two taxi transfers to and from danang airport!

Room: huge! Lovely massive double bed and seperate single, balcony facing the road but nice and sunny most of the day! Bathroom huge too with a bath and wet room style shower in one room and toilet in another!
Flat screen tv with umpteen channels ( v handy as hubby got sunstroke so hand to spend the day inside!)

Food: we only ate breakfast once and I wasn’t overly impressed. We’ve been to hotels on this trip with much more variety but they had the standard fruit and omelettes!
Their fresh spring rolls are good but let’s face it they are rubbish compared to morning glory!!!

Location: the hotel is approx a kilometre out of hoi an but this isn’t a problem for those who can ride bikes!!! And it’s not a long walk really! It’s on a reasonably quiet street too although the cafe next door plays some crazy music throughout the day!

Facilities: bikes: these are supplied free of charge! U sign for the key and away you go! Avoid number 23 as the chain kept coming off otherwise they are pretty decent if you treat them kindly! The roads around hoi an are pretty flat too so easy riding!

Spa: there is one but we didn’t use it!

Laundry: reasonably priced and all came back smelling good!

Pool: lovely and spotless! There aren’t many loungers though and the hotel is a busy one so you need to be up early for those! The sun is on the pool the first half of the day!

Staff: not as friendly as some but as James mentioned it is a busy hotel ad try don’t necessarily have the time to get personal. However one lady was very concerned about James being ill and offered to get a dr!

Overall: 8/10 breakfast needs improving!

Quick Restaurant Review(QRV)! Cargo Club Restaurant and Hoi An Patisserie

11 Feb

This the place to go for pastries and mango lassis!
This lovely restaurant has a patisserie attached which produce THE best chocolate croissants and cinnamon rolls on the planet!
It’s selection continues with apple strudel, apple pie, brownies, plain croissant as well as a range of desserts! It’s incredible! Intact this is my 4th visit in 24 hours and the 2nd in the last 2 hours! I’m usually up for trying different places but if it ain’t broke don’t fix it!

The ice cream and sorbet selection is also brilliant, my favourite being te passion fruit sorbet followed swiftly by the mango sorbet!

Mango lassis are also so good! Smooth and creamy they aren’t to sweet or heavy but make the perfect refreshment!

All in all five star, A++++++++, a definite must visit if you’re in Hoi An! And they deliver to your hotel! Perfect!
